About this trip
Explore the tropical paradise of Kauai with Chicas Abroad! We will hike, bike, swim, snorkel, and so much more as we traverse the entire island. You don’t want to miss out on this epic adventure to our favorite Hawaiian island!
Highlights
Activity Level
The Na Pali Coast hike is rated as moderate and does have some significant elevation gains, so prepare appropriately! All other activities will be easy to moderate.
As the itinerary shows, each day is filled with activity. This is not a relaxing beach vacation, although we will spend some time on the beach. Our goal is to show you the highlights of the island on foot, on the water, and on two wheels (biking). The days will be long and adventure filled. Comfortable hiking boots/shoes are the #1 priority and we suggest hitting the stair-climber at the gym and/or seeking out some local hills to climb to prepare for the hike.
Weather
Weather in Hawaii is beautiful year round with highs in the 70s-80s and lows in the 60s. There will be sun, but also a high probability of rain, especially in Kauai which is very lush and green, which takes a lot of rain!
Money & Tipping
All the excursions listed in the itinerary are included. Bring cash/credit cards for purchasing souvenirs, additional snacks/meals, alcoholic drinks, extra activities, and other items.All gratuities are included with the exception of those for your Chicas Abroad tour leader. Tipping the Chicas Abroad tour leader is optional and not included in the price of your adventure.

Sneak Peek Trip Details
Day 1 - Arrive in Kauai
Arrive in Lihue, Kauai with transfer to villa and Welcome Dinner
Plan to arrive at the Lihue airport by 3:00pm. A Chicas Abroad guide will meet you at the airport and transport you and your luggage to your home for the next five nights! We will be staying near Poipu Beach in a gorgeous 5-bedroom, 3 bath condo. Each guest will have her own bed (twin or queen size).
We have an outstanding dinner planned for this evening to welcome you all to the beautiful paradise of Kauai! This will be an opportunity to do introductions, get to know each other, and review the schedule and ground rules. We will walk to Poipu Beach to watch the sunset and hopefully see the turtles come out on the beach for the night.

Day 2 - Kalalau Hike
Na Pali Coast Trail Hike & Hanalei Bay
Our morning will start early with a hike on the Kalalau Trail with gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and Waimea Canyon. Hiking the entire trail would take 3-5 days, but there’s a 4-mile (roundtrip) hike along the Na Pali Coast Trail that our group will do. This spectacular hike will take us through a lush jungle setting to a dry dirt trail with extraordinary views and possibly to the beach (depending on weather) or to a stunning waterfall. While this hike is only 4 miles, it does have elevation ups and downs (1,131 feet), so be sure to get in shape to hike steep inclines and declines. This hike is rated as Moderate.
After returning from the hike, we will make a stop at Hanalei Bay for some swimming and relaxing. Snorkeling gear will be provided, but if you have your own favorite gear that you’d like to bring, please do so.

Day 3 - Kayaking & Hike
Wailua River Kayak & Waterfall Hike
Today we will hit the freshwater of the sacred Wailua River and take a relaxing 45-minute kayak ride surrounded by a lush jungle. We will leave our kayaks and do a guided nature hike (approximately 1 mile) to a gorgeous waterfall where you can swim, hike more, or just relax.
After kayaking back out, we will make a stop at the Koloa Rum Company for a tour and tasting, then go back to our condo to relax then off to the gorgeous Poipu Beach for some swimming and snorkeling. If we are feeling up to it and the weather cooperates, we will do a flat 4-mile roundtrip hike along the stunning Mahaulepu Heritage Trail at sunset. This trail is rated as Easy.

Day 4 - Mountain Tubing
Mountain Tubing and Beach Time
Gently flowing waters will carry you down the former irrigation system of the Lihue Plantation that traverses this magnificent, remote landscape. We’ll have beautiful views of the towering mountains surrounding us as we float through the flumes and tunnels along the waterway.
After our tube experience, we will grab some shave ice and head back to our villa for a relaxing afternoon to enjoy some time at the beach.

Day 5 - Na Pali Coast
Na Pali Coast Raft Experience, Kauai Coffee, & Luau
Today we will be viewing the Na Pali Coast from the water in an adrenaline pumping ride aboard a Zodiac boat. We will be exploring caves, waterfalls and secluded beaches along the Na Pali Coast. We might even see dolphins or whales! Our tour will include a stop to do some snorkeling to explore the beautiful sea life below.
Following the Zodiac boat ride, we will make a stop at the Kauai Coffee plantation for some coffee tasting and shopping. Then we will return to the condo to relax and get ready for an authentic Hawaiian Luau! No Hawaiian vacation would be complete without a luau. You will be served delicious Hawaiian cuisine and be entertained by native dancers.

Day 6 - Biking & Depart
Last Sunrise, Biking, and Departure
This morning those who want to see the last sunrise before we depart will rise early and say aloha (did you know that “aloha” means both “hello” and “goodbye”?) to the resting sea turtles on Poipu Beach. We will pack up our things and leave our gorgeous villa.
Most flights leave Lihue in the evening, so we should have some time to ride bikes along the Kapaa bike path on the east side of the island (near the airport). The length of the bike will depend on flight times and how energetic people are feeling after the week.
You should plan to book your departure flight no earlier than 3:00pm, but we will accommodate all departure times.

Let us take you on an epic 6 days in Kauai where you will enjoy many adventurous excursions and some beach time. The price includes all lodging, meals, and excursions after you arrive in Kauai. We take care of all of the details so you can adventure more and worry less!
A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due at booking, followed by 5 monthly payments (April-August 2025) of $550. The final balance is due by August 30, 2025. Please contact us if you’d like to set up a custom payment plan.
We will be staying in a villa with multiple bedrooms with 6 twin beds and 2 queen beds. Beds and rooms will be randomly assigned unless you’d like to pay extra for the one queen bed that is in a separate bedroom – see optional add-on below.
